Pouzis River starts north of Stavrovouni and east of Kornos village, passes south from Pyrga and heads or passes through Alethriko and Kivisili to end up in Mazotos sea.  It is said that its name came from the fact that there was almost never water and when there was, the people called it Pouzis.

Today, Pouzis has water during the winter months.  It passes to the west of the village and the last few houses are situated a few meters away from the riverbed.

Alongside the river there are a few olive trees and some orchards.  However there are some areas with reeds and wild vegetation.
